from ipad to canvas-how a painting developes

It’s that time of year when I go out painting with my iPad, especially to the coast which is my favourite place to capture. This painting is of Stolford on Bridgwater Bay on a bright sunny day with the light twinkling off the sea water. I find the sea defence here particularly interesting with abundant lichen growing on the rocks and this is where I beachcomb and collect limpet shells. I used PaperbyWeTransfer to paint this.

This is the final painting in acrylic. I reworked the iPad painting in the studio on a deepset 50cm by 100cm canvas. Ive had some fun editing out the sky and made the foreground detail more prominant. This painting is available to buy at £600 and I would be delighted if you would like to visit my studio at East Quay Watchet to view it.
