Clapper Bridge Cornwall

Can’t beat a quick trip to Cornwall for some painting and recharge the batteries! Clapper Bridge at Pillaton is a very nostalgic for me, a place of childhood holidays so it was fab to pop down for a few days recently. It hasn’t changed much and the valley is very lush and beautiful with a very heady smell of wild garlic which had just gone over. It was lovely to sit here and lose myself in the stonework of the ancient bridge spanning the RIver Lynher.

Sometimes the view I paint doesn’t have to be the most distinct or spectacular but finding a peaceful spot to paint and get into that almost meditative zone is just as important. A short walk out of the sleepy village of Pillaton I found this view looking across to St Mellion and greatly enjoyed spending some time here listening to the bird song and rustle of the meadow grass.

I do love a creek along the River Tamar, I stopped at Cargreen and walked down to the village green where there was a perfectly placed bench.
