Statement
As a visual artist grounded in both the sciences and the arts, my practice is deeply informed by a lifelong fascination with the natural world. With a degree in Physical Geography and HND in Graphic Design, I bring a layered approach to the landscapes I explore—investigating, documenting, and responding to the environment around me.
For the past 20 years, I have worked full-time as an artist, primarily painting in acrylic, while also embracing digital techniques using an iPad. My work often begins with walking, observing, collecting, and archiving—acts that allow me to engage intimately with place. I am particularly drawn to the subtle narratives embedded in landscapes: the traces of human and natural histories, the relics left behind, and the quiet but constant transformation shaped by time and climate.
Lately, my focus has been on the West Somerset coastal margins, where land meets sea and where the marks of change—ecological, geological, and cultural—are especially vivid. I am increasingly preoccupied with questions of balance, interconnection, and resilience in the face of environmental uncertainty.
